Inspired by an old family peanut brittle recipe and encouragement from family and friends, Lori put her culinary skills to the chocolatier test. While experimenting with this peanut brittle recipe, she put peanut butter on top of peanut brittle and dipped it into chocolate and discovered that it was a wonderful combination. Next, she tried pecans in place of peanuts, smothered the pieces with caramel and then dipped this taste of heaven in chocolate to created turtle brittle. Wow – pure decadence! As a result, Ultimate Brittle was born in 1992.
During the early years, Ultimate Confections dipped their chocolates in an industrial-equipped church basement kitchen. Eventually, they began to experiment with various nuts, fruits, and cream centers, and different combinations of milk, dark and white chocolates – and they continue to try new combinations today. To promote the ever-expanding line of chocolate confections, the name was changed to Ultimate Confections.
In the fall of 1995, Ultimate Confections opened its store on 68th Street, in the heart of the Wauwatosa, Wisc., just minutes from downtown Milwaukee.
Ultimate Confections’ popularity has grown tremendously throughout the years. They are a staple at the Wisconsin State Fair, Summerfest, local craft fairs and businesses, ethnic festivals, the Minnesota State Fair.
Ultimate Confections has received many Wisconsin State Fair Seal of Excellence awards for our gourmet hand-dipped chocolates from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, as well as recognition in local newspapers, media outlets and the magazine, Taste of Home.
